Voice Lessons for Young Children
Lessons for young children are obviously different. Young children don’t have the body awareness or muscle development to sing demanding repertoire, like the belting required to sing “Tomorrow" from the musical “Annie".
However, good basic technique learned at a young age will solidify into a steady, dependable singing voice for the rest of their lives. Voice lessons given to a child who love to sing will serve to protect their voice by teaching them how and what to sing so they don’t damage it.
I provide children with a music knowledge base from which to grow. Younger children benefit from learning solfege, beginning to read notes, sight singing and musicality.
Teaching singing technique to children must always be done with realistic expectation of a child’s voice. The emphasis is on beginning to develop good breath management and exploring the upper notes to keep the voice healthy.
